The GentleSteps™ Dog Fence Training Method

Safe, Humane Electronic Pet Fencing

A unique feature of Pet Stop® systems, GentleSteps™ utilizes extremely low & adjustable stimulation levels, to train your pet faster and with less of the stress normally associated with other fence training methods. The GentleSteps™ training method was created by Hidden Fence Company owner Rich Weinssen. Now, over 75 Pet Stop dealers are currently certified in this modern, careful approach.

Don’t Ask –
Demand Gentle Training!

If you do not choose Hidden Fence Company, at least ask that the method you be taught include 10% levels of shock for initial teaching. People make mistakes, but when you are teaching on low pressure levels during the dog’s early fence training, human error is more easily forgiven.
Pets are happier and learn faster with GentleSteps™

The History of our GentleSteps™ Fence Training Method

Hidden Fence Company owner Rich Weinssen pioneered the pet containment industry’s dramatic pet training changes, particularly the step of using lower shock levels at the initial training introduction. Introduced in 2001, Rich’s LowStress approach broke the training into smaller increments by drastically reducing the initial shock levels for all dogs and for over 10 years, Rich Weinssen has trained and certified hundreds of dog fence dealers in our revolutionary LowStress™ training protocols.

Some highlighted credentials since 2000:

2001: Owner Rich Weinssen created a new direction for containment training. By introducing dogs at lowered shock levels, Rich taught that many false associations can be avoided, and training is far more relaxed for owners and pets alike.

2003: Rich worked with Cyndy Douan, President & Director of Education of the International Association of Canine Professionals (IACP). Together, they wrote the first international certification program for dog fence training.

2004: Rich is responcible for training and certifying the entire dealer network.

2005: Radio Systems Corp requires every installing dealer of their professional product line to be certified in Rich Weinssen’s Gentle LiteTouch training protocol.

2006: Manufacturer Radio Systems Corp (the #1 manufacturer in the the WORLD, at the time) awarded Rich with the “Most Valuable Dealer Award“, created to recognize Rich’s work in certifying their professional dealer network. (Rich is not associated with Radio Systems Corp)

“So many presume that the use of electronic collars involve harsh corrections. This does not have to be the case as is proven in the ‘LiteTouch approach. Many containment systems have been taught to the dog using a much stronger jolt early in the training program. The dog will sometimes relate this strong stimulation to many things and what he learns we can never be certain, plus it generates a high stress level not conducive to his education. With ‘LiteTouch™’ the trainer guides, shows, gains understanding, and develops an appreciation from the dog of boundaries and where he is safe to play and have fun.”
